The town origins date back to over 1500 years and theCastle is the centre point of the town. Today, it is Dublin’s fastest growing suburb, with a large new shopping centre, numerous restaurants & cafes, a state of the art cinema, a leisure centre and many other amenities. Swords is an ideal base for a stay in Dublin.

Swords Castle:
Construction work on the castle began in the 12th Irish Castle and construction took a period of 400 years. As well as being the home of the Archbishops of Dublin, it is said that parliaments were held in the great hall of the castle. town castleAs it stands at the moment Swords Castle presents a vivid snap-shot of 15th century life, comprising a gatehouse, apartments for knights, a chapel, banqueting hall, the all-important Archbishops apartments and two large towers, one of which was the home of the area's constable and his family.Swords Castle was lying idle for a number of years before it was bought from the Cobbe family by Dublin County Council in 1985. The castle and the surrounding lands were acquired for the provision of the Ward River Valley Regional Park.

Pavilions is north Dublin's premier shopping centre with over 80 great shops, restaurants and cafes as well as the 11 screen Movies@Swords cinema all under one roof.

Swords Village:
Swords Village is a lively little town centre, with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes. The Castle is located in the centre of the village adding to the quaint village atmosphere.
