Turning Green

paddys-day-2015

St Patricks Day is fast approaching and it is a great way to experience the atmosphere, music, dance and culture that the Irish people are so well known for.  There will be local and national events over the festival period of March 14th – 17th.  Our neighbouring town of Swords will be hosting a parade from 11.30am on March 17th where music and as well as street performers, stilt walkers and balloon modellers are taking part.  Many local bars and restaurants will have traditional Irish music sessions and promotions to mark the occasion.  Swords Castle which is under refurbishment will be open from 12pm – 16.00pm with free entry for those who wish to view the ancient ruins which once housed the Arch Bishop of Dublin during the 1200AD.

For those who are looking to visit the city centre, the main attraction will be the Parade on March 17th leaving from Parnell Square and passing through O’Connell Street.  During the festival the city will transform into a stage for musicians, dancers and performers and everyone is encouraged to join in, especially on Monday 16th at 16.30pm when the live Céilí  (Traditional Irish dancing)takes place in St Stephens Green.
