Being an Intern in Ireland

Intern I know, I know… packing everything and leaving your family and friends is one of the most difficult things in the world. But let me tell you; it is also one of the best decisions you will ever make. Of course, you know what you leave behind, but you don’t know what the future holds and this is one of the reasons why I love to travel. The particular moment when you leave home and it’s just you and your bag,  ready for another spectacular adventure, it’s just magic and incredibly exciting.  “Home is now behind you, the world is ahead.”

Anyway, I left home 3 months ago and I embarked on a new experience: my internship in Ireland. It can be quite intimidating the first time you walk into a new office, where everybody knows each other and you are out of your element. I admit that I was scared as hell, but everyone here is very friendly and easy-going and welcomed me heartily. It is a fact that during my first few weeks I had to learn the job but as the time went by I became more independent and productive.  A crucial tip I can give to you is the following: don’t be afraid to ask, as it is the best way to expand your knowledge. As an intern, my tasks are multiple and very different one from another, ranging from making coffee to translating the website into other languages, from working on excel to writing the blog. This is quite good as it enables you to understand which tasks you like and which ones you don’t and it will therefore help you in choosing your future profession.

So go ahead and hit the road, because “the world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page”.
