Development of Assessment
Assessments are
an essential part of your learning journey, designed to support your progress
and build your confidence in using English. We focus on all key CEFR skills –
listening, reading, writing, and speaking – providing a balanced approach to
language learning. This ensures students develop well-rounded proficiency while
identifying areas for improvement.
Our assessment
method is low stakes, meaning the focus is on your learning and growth rather
than pressure. By emphasising participation and feedback, we create a
motivating environment where you feel empowered to take ownership of your
learning.
Students are
initially assessed pre-arrival to determine their proficiency level through are
online assessment which is aligned with the CEFR.
Our students are
then assessed through our formative and summative assessment systems which ensure
validity, reliability, and fairness in evaluating student performance across
language skills.
Formative
Assessment
Formative assessment is an ongoing process that helps measure
students’ progress and provide constructive feedback throughout their stay. It
includes classroom observations, interactive activities, quizzes, and weekly
projects. Other examples of formative assessment would be learners’ engagement
in activities and learners’ ability to overcome language obstacles. These are
recorded and used as a basis for comments on regarding assessment on our
students exit report.
Summative Assessment
Summative assessments are conducted at the end of each week to
measure the students’ learning based on the core course book unit they have
studied. These tests are standardised to ensure consistency and fairness and
are listed in the students’ syllabus to help them prepare effectively.
