Student Conduct Guidelines

The Irish College of English is committed to providing a quality education and training service in an environment that fosters respect, cooperation, and diversity. As a student at our school, you are expected to adhere to the following code of conduct to maintain a respectful and conducive learning environment for yourself and your fellow students:

Difference and Diversity:

  • Embrace and respect the differences and diversity among students, staff, and visitors.
  • Avoid discrimination of any form based on age, gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, ethnic or religious background.

Cooperation and Respect:

  • Treat all staff members, teachers, and fellow students with courtesy, respect, and politeness.
  • Follow the directions and guidelines provided by staff members and teachers in a cooperative manner.

Tolerance and Freedom of Expression:

  • Exercise freedom of expression while balancing it with tolerance and social responsibility.
  • Engage in academic debate and discussion in a respectful and constructive manner.

Language Policy:

  • Speak in English at all times while on campus or participating in school-sponsored activities.
  • Utilize English as the primary language during organized trips to maximize learning opportunities and create an immersive environment.

Attendance and Punctuality:

  • Attend all classes regularly and arrive on time to minimize disruptions for yourself and fellow students.
  • Notify the school in advance if you are unable to attend a class due to illness or any other legitimate reason.

Participation and Focus:

  • Actively participate in classroom activities, discussions, and exercises to enhance your learning experience.
  • Stay focused on tasks and avoid distractions during class time, including turning off electronic devices unless permitted by the teacher.

Unacceptable Conduct:

  • Any form of disruptive behavior, including disobeying staff directions, not observing class rules, or endangering the safety of others, is considered unacceptable.
  • Discrimination, harassment, bullying, theft, vandalism, or any criminal behavior will not be tolerated.

Consequences of Unacceptable Conduct:

  • Disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, may be taken in response to unacceptable behavior.
  • The school reserves the right to involve law enforcement authorities in cases of alleged criminal behavior.

Disciplinary Appeal Process:

  • Students have the right to appeal disciplinary decisions by completing a Student Complaints and Appeals Form within 7 days.
  • Appeals will be handled in accordance with the school’s Complaints Policy and Procedure.
